In all the excitement over Creation and Evolution, it is easy to forget the point of us being here. I just want to take a short period of time here and remind everyone what the whole point of this ministry is and why it matters.
The whole point of this ministry revolved solely around Jesus Christ. That’s it. Without Christ, this ministry is pointless. When Jesus Christ came into this world as an infant, He didn’t come with a parade or surrounded by noblemen. He came into a poor family, attended only by shepherds. He came selflessly, in the form of a man, to reach a humanity that had turned their back on Him.
What does this mean for mankind? It means the gap between God and man can be bridged. The gap was caused originally in the Garden of Eden, by man’s sin. Man was created to be in fellowship with God, but when he sinned, He could no longer stand in God’s presence. The man and woman hid themselves from God when He walked in the Garden for shame. This led God to cast man out of the Garden. When He did so, however, He provided a promise that one would come, which would offer redemption to fallen man.
That promise was kept approximately four thousand years later, when God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. He was born of a virgin, as prophesied by Isaiah, lived a perfect, sinless life, before being nailed to a cross. On that cross, God placed the burden of all mankind’s sin, past, present, and future, on the back of His Son. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us. The absolute wickedness of this sin, caused God to turn His back on His own Son, leading Jesus to cry out “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”(Matt27:46) Once Jesus died, the ultimate penalty for sin was paid. However, God was not done. Jesus arose from the dead, proving He was God in the flesh. As such, He is able to offer salvation to sinful man.
So who needs this salvation? We all do, because we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 tells us “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Every last one of us has sinned, and thus cannot approach a perfect and holy God. There is only one way a man can pay for his sin: eternity in hell. Romans 6:23a says “For the wages of sin is death;”. This death is the eternal death in the lake of fire. There is no work, no amount of tithing, church attendance, no baptism, no prayer, no Bible reading that can save us. Titus 3:5a tells us “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,” Isaiah 64:6 says “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Our works are so far from God’s perfection, that He views them as a filthy disgusting rag, fit for nothing but to be destroyed.
That sounds like a lot of bad news, and it is. But that isn’t where it stops. Jesus paid for our many sins. Romans 5:8 tells us “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Even though we were living a life opposed to God, He loved use enough to die for us as a substitute. He has offered us this substitutionary payment for our sins, this salvation, freely. Romans 6:23 I quoted above continues ” but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” It is not a work. It is a gift. The example I use is this. If I hand you a pen and I say it is a gift, what must you do to receive the gift? Simply reach out and take it. If I then try to take it back, was it a gift? No, it was not. If I say you have to do something to earn it, is it a gift? No it is not. That is how salvation is. It cannot be earned, and it cannot be taken away. It is a choice. You individually must choose if you want to repent of your sins, turn from them, and accept Christ’s free substitutionary gift for you. How do you accept the gift? You believe. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10) It is as simple as that.
This is why In His Image exists. My vision for this ministry was to strengthen those already saved and reach those who do not know Christ. If the latter is you, please do not wait to settle your eternal destiny. If you want to know more, or need to speak with someone regarding this, please contact us via twitter or the facebook page and we would be thrilled to speak with you about knowing Jesus Christ.
