I’ve been thinking about this for a while. Creation science is developing rapidly and many more Christians are getting educated about various aspects of God’s creation. However, they are all somewhat scattered. There is no single synthesis of a creation model available, aside from a few fringe models that people have formulated on their own without any input from other creationists. That needs to change. In His Image is going to change it.
Now you may be wondering how a small ministry like In His Image could possibly formulate a creation model. On our own, we couldn’t, but more on that in a moment. First we need to explain why such a model matters. I’ve written about the necessity of a creation model before so I won’t repeat myself completely. However, the key point to remember is that we need to be able to present a finished and somewhat complete model to the world. Further, this model must be able to make testable predictions in order to verify that the model itself it valid.
What would such a model entail? How would it be constructed? Such a model would be very diverse, and would need to bring together multiple disciplines. Astronomy, geology, meteorology, biology, baraminology, genetics, chemistry, paleontology, and history must be synthesized into a viable model that allows creation scientists to predict both future discoveries as well as how things functioned in the past. This is complicated by the fact that there are a small number of creation scientists, they work for a diverse group of ministries, colleges and institutions, and some groups are at loggerheads with one another. However, almost all of them do publish ideas in the various creation peer-reviewed journals.
Obviously, no one person is qualified to publish original ideas on all of those topics. It would be foolish for me to attempt to publish a peer-reviewed paper in astrophysics or meteorology since those are areas I do not have expertise in. However, even without expertise, it is possible to read the published work of the experts and synthesize it into creation model. It is impossible for one person to be an expert in everything. However, it is possible for that same person to have a general idea of each topic to present each topic accurately by consulting people who are experts. This is what In His Image is going to do.
This is going to be a massive project. It will not be easy to compile all creationist thought on any one of the above-listed topics, let alone all of them. However, it is our intention to do more than compile. We plan to synthesize the work of these experts in such a way that we can form a unified creation model. This is not something we take lightly. It will be a lot of work. But no one else seems to be doing it so someone needs to step up to get the job done.
Doing a project like this is going to require a lot of time. It is also going to require access to papers that we may or may nor know exist or are able to access. This is particularly true of older papers, such as the one containing Dr. Steve Austin’s floating log mat idea. The original was in his PhD dissertation and thus far, I have been unable to locate it on the internet. I’m sure there are other papers that will be similarly difficult to find. That’s where you all come in. If you have a copy of a paper, particularly an older one, that you know or suspect might be hard to come by, please contact us through the contact page of this website. We would love to see it. Also, to expedite this project, we would love to have other, like-minded Christians come on board and write about areas they are passionate about. Note that anything written by someone outside the In His Image team will be carefully scrutinized to ensure it meets our standards and that it presents the material accurately. If you are interested in helping with this project, please also use the contact page to get in touch with us. We will want to know a little about your background, including your testimony, theological alignment, and qualifications. We look forward to working with the creation science community to produce a working, full fledged creation model.
