How the West Lost Its Mind

I was prompted to write this by the news that the collection of thugs and murderers, better known as Black Lives Matter, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Yes, that prize you get for making a contribution to world peace is being potentially given to a group of people who spent the entire summer of 2020 burning, looting, and murdering their way across the western world at large. And this is far from the only example of moral insanity in the west? Men can wander into women’s bathrooms freely, women marry women, children do drag dances for adults, churches are closed but strip clubs are open, social media bans dissenting views but not pornography and on and on and on. Up is down, left is right, good is evil, and evil is good. The west has lost its collective mind.

Why though? What has prompted the western civilizations, once known for their morality and hard work, to become amoral, lazy societies? The answer comes from Romans one.

“20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

“Notice what this passage tells us

1.Natural revelation tells us there is a God and this no one, not even the most hardened atheist, has an excuse to claim there is no God. Yet this is precisely what the western world has done, particularly through the school systems.

2. Because all men knew God, they had a choice: follow Him, or not. The western world, by and large, chose not to follow Him. This darkened the heart of the west, leading to wicked words and actions (Luke 6:45)

3. In their own eyes, they were wise, but in God’s eyes, they were fools. Does this not sound like the western world, and even many in the church? We think of ourselves as so advanced, so knowledgeable, so much better than those that came before us. Yet we live by fallible doctrines of men, the follies of godless minds, and God laughs. (Ps 2:4)

4. Verse 23 sounds an awful lot like the west as well. We have widespread animal rights movements, ethical veganism, widespread climate alarmism, and people calling animals their babies, while aborting the children they are given. Man was given dominion over everything on this earth (Gen 1:26,28) given the animals as food (Gen 9:3). God promised that as long as the earth remains, we will have regular season cycles (Gen 8:22). Yet the west has abandoned all these things to cater to animals and “mother nature” above the needs of humans.

5. What is the result of these rejections of God? God gives people up to their own sinful nature. It is no coincidence that American morality, righteousness and Christianity has collapsed since the 1950s-1960s. The Sexual Revolution destroy the remaining morality of the pseudo-Christianity preached by the social justice warriors who dominated the compromised Evangelical movement. However, the foundation had been destroyed decades before by the acceptance of Darwinism in most seminaries. These same seminaries produced the luminaries who would lead the evangelical movement. While some were focused on winning souls, most were focused on do-gooding, regardless of winning souls.

6. By abandoning Biblical principles regarding sexual activity in marriage, decency, obedience to parents, and so on, the sixties generation began to worship themselves as the highest authority. it is no coincidence that Buddhism, Hinduism, and other forms of spiritualism made great headway during this time as people focused on serving the god of self, rather than the God of the Bible.

7. Because of the wickedness of the western world, God gave them up. Note that in verses 26-27, the consequence of God giving these people up is homosexuality. It is no coincidence that at the same time the west was actively rejecting God, we see spikes in homosexuality, and later in the consequences of promiscuity, STDs.

8. The passage concludes that, because these people did not want to remember God, God permitted them to forget Him and engage in all manner of wicked behavior. Does this also not sound like the west?

In short, if you want to understand why the west is busy committing suicide and laughing on its way like a maniac, understand Romans 1. When a people chooses to reject God and His Word, as the west has done for the last hundred odd years or so, God will lift His restraining hand. When He does so, wickedness will rapidly increase, just as it has in the west. Political solutions, as we saw just in the last week and a half, are not the answer. What one politician does, another can undo with the stroke of a pen. What is needed is a nationwide revival. However, men who have chosen to reject God, make hard converts, particularly when many of them are convinced they are Christian, never mind their Godless behavior.

The west has gone morally mad, and the Christian remnant is among the last of the sane. Do not be surprised when madmen act insane. Expect it, prepare for it, and be ready for the insane to turn on the sane. The inmates are running the asylum now and, barring a revival, will continue to do so in perpetuity. Teach your children, your family, the truth while you still can, because the inmates will do their best to get rid of anyone telling them they are insane.
